Shizu is a young man with a great talent for swordsmanship. He travels in a buggy alongside his vassal and pet Samoyed Riku, and eventually Ti, a girl whom Riku and Shizu eventually take in.
Despite escaping the Land of the Coliseum as a child, he returns seven years later to participate in the tournament as a means to assassinate his father and end the tyranny.
Kino and Hermes meet up with Shizu and Riku occasionally during their travels, but Kino seems to only remember only Riku's name.
